On a fixed gear your legs do the slowing, the pacing and the skid. A foot that slips off a spinning pedal is how a good ride goes bad. GH-1 straps keep it there through a skid, a track start and the last mile of a courier shift, with no cleats and no special shoes. Two-ply nylon, a 316 stainless buckle, no plastic hardware. They are made for track cranks, brakeless commutes and anyone who would rather lace a strap than clip in.

The GH-1 is a doubled loop of two-ply nylon that laces through a platform pedal in under a minute. Six bar-tacks in #69 bonded thread hold the loop together, and a 316 stainless buckle holds your setting. No plastic hardware. Before any strap leaves the bench, it takes a 300 lb pull.

Once you've paid, stock colorways leave Tunnel Hill within 24 hours, Tuesday through Saturday. Custom woven labels take about three weeks. Walk-ins are welcome during bench hours at 104 S Cherry St.

We fixed straps until we sewed our own.
Gearhold started as a repair bench inside a Chattanooga bike co-op, restitching straps that kept failing riders. We moved to Tunnel Hill, put Ruth, a 1978 bar-tack machine, to work, and started sewing straps of our own.
